This Sociology course introduces students to the study of human society, social behavior, and social institutions. The course explores key concepts, theories, and research methods used by sociologists to analyze and understand social patterns, relationships, and cultural dynamics.
Topics typically include:
Socialization: How individuals learn and internalize societal norms, values, and roles.
Social Institutions: Examination of structures like family, education, religion, government, and the economy.
Culture and Society: Analysis of cultural norms, values, and how they shape human behavior.
Social Stratification: Exploration of class, race, gender, and inequality.
Deviance and Social Control: Understanding what defines deviance and how societies maintain order.
Social Change: Examination of social movements, technology, and globalization's impact on societies.
Homework includes video lessons, quizzes, and reading assignments that are accessible through the online student portal.
Students will also be assigned homework assignments via Modern States. This is a free program that provides students with a free voucher code that will pay for their CLEP exam if they complete the assignments.
If students participate and study they will be well prepared to take the Sociology CLEP test
