Tynker: Coding for Kids
Tynker: Java Programming
This transitions from block-based programming to text-based coding in JavaScript, one of the most widely used programming languages. Students will complete interactive lessons, solve logic-based puzzles, and build custom games and projects using JavaScript and HTML canvas.
Students will have a strong understanding of JavaScript syntax, game development concepts, debugging, and structured data storage. They will also take a game idea from design to implementation, creating their own custom JavaScript-based games.
Technical Requirements:
- Works on modern laptops, Chromebooks, or Netbooks
- Requires Internet access (SCA has wifi)
- Compatible with Chrome (29+), Firefox (30+), Safari (7+), or Edge (20+)
- No downloads or installations are required
Age Requirement: Middle & Early High School
Preferred: Has coded using scratch before but not required
